Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS USUALLY WANT TO KNOW ...
Reservations & Booking
  1. How do I reserve a time slot for an escape room?

You can reserve your desired room and time slot online though our webpage and our online booking service.  This allows you to conveniently reserve and book as far in advance as you like.  You may also walk in to our store and book your room in person and pay at that time.  Your booking is NOT reserved until you pay for the tickets reserved.

  1. How much does this cost?

Our escape room, and other, prices are clearly posted on our webpage and in our reception lobby.  Please note that the price shown INCLUDES sales tax – this is the actual price you pay per tickets.  We DO NOT charge any booking fees or add any other costs to the ticket prices.

  1. Are the escape room bookings private?

Yes.  We do not allow more than one group to reserve a room at the same time, even if there are unused tickets available.  As long as your group pays for the minimum number of players (or more), your time slot is reserved for only your group.

  1. What are the minimum and maximum number of players per room? Can you make an exception?

Each escape room has a pre-determined minimum number of players and maximum number of players that it can accommodate.  This information is on our webpage and repeated in the online booking service.  These numbers are set for specific reasons.  The minimum number of players is determined by the playability of the room, financial considerations, and other factors.  You must pay for the minimum number of players indicated for each room.  The maximum number of players is determined by the physical size of the escape room and the spaces within it.  For your comfort, the playability of the room, and fire-code regulations, we must adhere to the maximum number of players for a room.

5. What is the minimum age for your escape rooms?  Do children have to be accompanied by adults?

Generally speaking, the minimum age for escape rooms in our facility is 10 years of age and is not flexible.  Children younger than this are usually not mature enough to enjoy and assist their group in solving the puzzles in the room.  Our rooms are not child-proofed and smaller children may damage the room and/or injure themselves if not supervised fully.  It is difficult for parents to focus both on solving the puzzles in the room AND watching young children to the degree necessary to prevent damage or injury.

Additionally, each room may have a higher minimum age listed in its description.  This age should be viewed as a guideline, rather than as a hard rule, much like a movie rating.  Parents may choose to bring a child younger that the room minimum if they feel that the child will be able to enjoy and participate, and if the parent is aware of the reasons in the room’s design that indicate a higher minimum age for that room.  The facility’s overall minimum age of 10 years of age is still enforced.

Every escape room booking MUST include at least one ticketed responsible adult for insurance and liability reasons.  All other areas of the facility (gaming spaces, retail shop, lobby, etc.) require unattended minors to be at least 15 years of age.  Any child under 15 years of age MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult, even in these other public spaces of the facility.

6.  How do I add another player to my group after I’ve already booked online?

Provided you have a valid reservation booked online, you can simply wait until you come into the store for your reservation and pay for additional players (up to the room’s indicated maximum) in person.

7.  What if I arrive late for my reservation? Can I be early?  When do I need to arrive?

Our escape rooms are scheduled based upon their play length, our business day, staffing considerations, and the overall traffic flow of our facility with multiple rooms.  These factors limit our flexibility.  We ask that you arrive in the store about 10 minutes before your reserved time slot.  This allows for check-in, payments for added players, and restroom visits, but still allows us to get your group started on time.  We understand that unforeseen circumstances sometimes cause delays, and we strive to be as flexible with our guests as possible.  Due to scheduling concerns, lateness of a group can affect other groups playing that room later, and the flow of guest traffic in all of our rooms.  If you arrive more than 20 minutes after your reserved time slot, we may elect to move you to a later timeslot or reduce your playtime in your current reservation to match the lost time, at our discretion.  If you are more than 45 minutes late, your reservation will be cancelled with no refund.

If you arrive early, feel free to shop in our store, hang out in our open-gaming spaces, or just enjoy the comfy lobby chairs.  We may be able to start your room early if the flow of the day allows, but we will not begin any reservation more than 10 minutes early.

8.  Can I change the escape room or experience I booked if I don’t like it?

In limited circumstances, if you make the change request BEFORE your Game Master allows you into the room, we may be able to switch you to another escape room or experience and transfer your payment without additional cost, based upon room availability, within the same business day.  If you change to an experience with a different ticket price, you are still responsible for the difference in price between what you already paid and the tickets of the new experience.  This is NOT a fee; this is paying the correct price for the experience you are getting.

If you ask to change to a different experience AFTER starting the experience, a LATE CHANGE fee of $25 (for the group) will apply, in addition to any difference in ticket prices, and is also based upon availability.

Payments & Refunds
  1. How do I pay for my booking?

You can pay conveniently by major credit card online when you book your experience in advance.  If you wish to pay in person, you can book your experience in the store.  You can pay in person using cash (no bills larger than $20, and exact change is preferred), major credit card, apple pay, and Cash App.  Your booking isn’t reserved until full payment is made.

  1. Can I reserve and/or pay over the phone?

No.  For your safety and privacy, our point-of-sale system doesn’t allow us to accept credit cards over the phone.  Since you must pay for your booking in order to reserve your booking, we cannot accept reservations over the phone, either.

  1. If I change my mind after booking, or if I miss my reserved time, can I get a refund?

When you place your reservation and book an experience, you are paying for the time slot.  If you book a time slot and then don’t use it, we are unable to re-sell that slot because it is reserved for you.  Because of this, we cannot offer a refund for a missed reservation time.

  1. What do I do if I have an emergency and cannot make my reserved time slot?

In certain circumstances, we may be able to provide you with a raincheck and apply your payment to a later time slot or on a different day.  However, this is not guaranteed and is based upon a number of factors.  If you are able to provide us advance notice that you won’t be able to make your time slot, we may be able to re-sell the time slot.  Please call us as soon as you are able to let us know of your absence.  If you wish to request a raincheck for the missed reservation, please fill out our “Contact Us” form on our webpage to provide us with details on the situation for consideration.

  1. How does a group of several people all pay separately?

Our online booking service only allows for the input of one credit card when making a reservation.  If your group wants to pay separately, you have the following options:

  • Have one person pay for the group online and then each person reimburse that person privately;
  • Have one person pay for the minimum number of players required to make the reservation (most rooms require 3 minimum). The remaining players can make an in-person payment in the store upon arrival, up to the maximum players allowed for that room; or
  • The entire group can pay separately on a walk-in basis when they arrive at the store. This method DOES NOT reserve your time slot, since you will not have an advance reservation, and it is possible that the room and/or time you want may not be available.
  1. What discounts do you offer?

Because we strive to ensure that our regular ticket prices reflect the lowest possible cost to our guests on an everyday basis, we do not offer any discounts on regular, individual tickets.  We do offer large group discounts to schools on field trips, and to guests who purchase escape room tickets as part of a larger package for special events, such as birthday parties, etc.

Liability, Waivers, Damage, Injury
  1. Do we have to sign anything when we do an escape room?

We require all guests who will enter an escape room to read and indicate their legal agreement with our Liability Waiver.  These rules and conditions can be found in the information provided by the online booking service on the webpage before finalizing payment.  They are also available for examination at our reception desk in the store.  Even if you neglect to complete the paperwork indicating your agreement, any person entering any escape room in our store is indicating their legal agreement by the act of entering the escape room.  If you do not want to agree to these terms, DO NOT enter one of our escape rooms.

  1. What happens if I damage something in the escape room?

When engaging in our escape experiences, we expect players to take reasonable care of the premises, props, puzzles, and décor in the rooms.  Normal wear and tear, legitimate accidents, and similar occurrences are taken in stride, provided you notify your Game Master of any damage caused.  Any guest that willfully, or negligently, damages any portion of the escape room, or attempts to hide accidental damage, will be held legally and financially responsible for costs associated with making the escape room whole and playable again.  This can include not only the actual cost of the item damaged or destroyed, but also labor costs, design costs, and any other costs associated with making the room playable again, AND anticipated lost revenue for the time that the room is unplayable due to the damage caused by the guest.  Adults who register and accompany minor children into the room are responsible and liable for damage caused by those minors, even if they are not the parent or legal guardian of the minor child.

  1. What if I am injured in the escape room?

We strive to ensure that our escape rooms are as safe as possible.  However, when entering the escape room, you have agreed to indemnify us and hold us harmless if you happen to be injured.  Our staff will do their best to assist you if you are injured, but they are NOT medically trained and are not responsible for providing medical care.  Any medical expenses incurred from injury in our escape rooms are the sole responsibility of the guest.  If you do not agree to these terms, DO NOT enter our escape rooms.

New to Escape Rooms?
  1. What is an escape room?

An escape room is usually a space that is decorated and furnished to match a particular theme.  There is some story element that explains why the players are “locked in” the space.  The room includes a series of puzzles and riddles that the players must solve to resolve the story and “escape” the room.  Some of the puzzles may be electronic and some may be made from traditional materials, such as wood or paper, and require physical manipulation.  There is usually a time limit to escape.

  1. Am I really locked in the room? How do I get out in an emergency?

While most escape rooms are secured against casual exit by players, most have some functional way for players to leave before the game is over, in case of emergency or other urgent need.  Our escape rooms either have a fully unlocked door, or a “panic button” that will release the lock on the exit.  Exiting the game early will usually result in an early termination of the game without refund.

  1. What kinds of locks will I find in the escape room?

All kinds!  Keyed padlocks, combination locks, coded locks, magnetic locks are all possible in an escape room.  The clues and puzzles in the room will lead players to the key or to the actions that will release the lock, culminating in the final lock releasing the exit door.  Carefully examine each lock or puzzle to determine what kind of effort is needed to open it.

  1. Do I get hints if I get stuck and can’t figure out a puzzle?

Yes!  Most escape rooms will provide hints when asked for them.  While many other escape rooms will limit the number of clues or hints players can receive, we do not place any limits on how many hints you can request in our escape rooms.  You can ask for as much, or as little, help as you may need.

  1. How do I get help from my Game Master?

We issue a hand-held radio to the team of players in each room that allows you to communicate directly with your Game Master.  You can request hints and other assistance using this radio.  Your Game Master will explain it’s use during the room introduction.

  1. Do I need to move furniture, pull things off the walls, or use a lot of force to accomplish tasks in an escape room?

No, please don’t!  In most escape rooms, players are instructed to NOT move furniture, to not remove things permanently adhered to the walls, and to only use very minor force when working with props and décor in the room.  If a particular room requires any of these actions, you will be specifically told so in the introduction.  Otherwise, please refrain for these actions as they may injure you or damage the room beyond playability – and the players are legally liable for any damages or injury.

  1. What’s the best strategy for escaping one of these rooms?

Generally speaking, players that pay close attention to the clues in the room and that work as a team for efficiency are usually the most successful.  Each room has a specific difficulty rating and the ease of play will be affected by this rating.  Harder rooms take more time, effort, and logic to complete.

  1. What happens if we run out of time before completing the room?

If you haven’t escaped by the time the room timer runs down to zero, the exit door will usually open and a sad sound effect plays to indicate that the players have not been successful.  Your Game Master will come and debrief you on your progress, often explaining a puzzle or two that you may have struggled with, and then escort your group back to the lobby.

  1. What happens if we DO escape in time?

If you successfully exit the room before the timer runs down to zero, then a success sound effect will play and your Game Master will come and congratulate you.  We also award prizes to successful players, so you get more than just “bragging rights” if you win.

  1. What happens after the game ends?

Your Game Master will take a commemorative photo of your group and it will be emailed to you and posted on our social media to show the world the fun you had.  If you do not want the photo shared on our social media, please let your Game Master know.
